Jerileigh Siss is an independent agent at Primerica. Primerica is a leading financial service
company. They provide financial
education and offer financial products and services to their clients. Their focus is on servicing and educating the
needs of middle-class income households.
Jerileigh is a financial coach and a
money mentor for her clients.
She majored in Marketing at Cleveland State University. Marketing came easy to her, and she felt like
she was good at it. At that time, a lot
of students were going for Marketing.
However, when she was working for corporate America in sales, she wasn’t
feeling fulfilled. She felt like she was
limited and couldn’t grow. At the time
she didn’t know anything about the financial world. Jerileigh even disliked talking about
money. But she was looking for a way to
use her skills and to make money on her own time and on her own terms rather than
be confined to what corporate America told her she was worth and allowed to
make. A recruiter called her from
Primerica and asked if she kept her options open to make money during her off
hours. She said yes because she knew
what she was doing wasn’t her calling. So
she learned the ropes of the business and started a new adventure. Jerileigh enjoys helping the middle class
with their finances and watching them grow.
When I asked her which position she has learned the most from her
response was “that isn’t a fair question”.
Every position she has been in has helped her grow to where she is at
today. There hasn’t been one where she
hasn’t been able to transfer her skills from.
There has been a couple of obstacles Jerileigh has had to
overcome over her career. One of the
obstacles is her own mindset at times.
At times she would have to take a step back and reevaluate the
situation. Asking for help isn’t a bad
thing. There is nothing wrong with
stating that you may need further clarification to complete the project or
additional help answering questions.
Everyday your mind can get in the away, but it is how you overcome it
and assess the situation that makes you stand out and overcome those obstacles.
Jerileigh was a Big Sister for 8 years. During her time with the Big Brother/Big
Sister program Jerileigh won the Big Sister of the year award in 2015. To this day she keeps in contact with her
little sister. It has been one of the
most rewarding parts of her life. She is
happy to be a mentor to little sisters and hopes to make a wonderful impact on
their life like her mentors have done for her.
She has had mentors in both her professional and personal life. Jerileigh believes it is important to stay
and be around well-rounded professionals and to always learn from them.
Jerileigh reminds everyone to be open minded. Once you open your mind a bit you would be
surprised what you can do and what you accomplish. Trying new possibilities and challenging
yourself is a excellent way for you to grow.
And the last thing she would like to remind us of is to pick an
organization that aligns with your values.
Success is relative. To some
people success is all about your salary.
And to others it is your job title.
But to Jerleigh it is what she has accomplished on her career
journey. She has a great support system,
who encourages her and motivates her.
She balances her work life and personal life by block
scheduling. She can make choice on what
is important and what is priority. From
there she will stay committed to her priorities. At times, Jerileigh will have to miss us on
events with her family and friends. But
if it helps reach her goals, she is happy to make it up to them.
Thank you so much for the spotlight and opportunity to share my story. It is an honor to be a part of something impacting so many lives in so many ways. Andrea, you are a blessing and a gift to so many!
